The Struggle in Syria – Reality Behind the Myth
a talk by Dr. As’ad AbuKhalil
Dr. As’ad AbuKhalil, professor of political science at California State University, Stanislaus and expert on Middle East history and politics, will speak about the struggle in Syria. The country has seen waves of popular protest by the population against the ruling government of Bashar Al-Assad. This has lead to a violent civil war. At the same time the U.S. government and its allies struggle to dominate Syria, by supplying some of these forces with weapons, or relying on the Gulf States to do the same. The people of Syria are caught in the vise of international forces attempting to manipulate the revolution to serve imperialist goals. Come hear Dr. AbuKhalil discuss the Struggle in Syria.
