Marxism and Science
Engels, Introduction, Dialectics of Nature, 1883 :
MODERN natural science, which alone has achieved an all-round systematic and scientific development, as contrasted with the brilliant natural-philosophical intuitions of antiquity and the extremely important but sporadic discoveries of the Arabs, which for the most part vanished without results - this modern natural science dates, like all more recent history, from that mighty epoch which we Germans term the (...)

US capitalism : what is the contract ?
20 August 2013, by Robert ParisThe AC Contract: Just Saying “No” Isn’t Enough
After months of negotiations union representatives for AC Transit workers and AC management have come up with a tentative agreement. They claim this is a real gain for the workers. Of course some of the truly insane demands put on the table by management were discarded. But this is part of the normal bargaining process. Some of the so-called gains merely restore what was taken away in the last contract. In addition the union officials say (...) -

No Time For The Summertime
17 June 2013, by Robert ParisNo Time For The Summertime
The summer months are supposed to be a time to spend with our families, possibly visit relatives in other cities, and simply hang out and get some rest. Because the weather is nice and the kids are out of school, many of us try to save up as much of our vacation days for the summer. But unfortunately, for most workers, we’re rarely able to do any of this – we’re lucky if we get any time off at all.
Even if we do get time off, we rarely get the days we want (...) -

Taking Us For All We Got!
12 March 2013, by Robert ParisTaking Us For All We Got!
Once again we’re supposed to believe that the government is broke and must make our lives more miserable as banks, corporations, and the super rich make record amounts of money. We’re supposed to believe the politicians are desperately at work trying to fight each other on our behalf. What a joke.
The idea that the Democrats and Republicans even disagree in the first place is laughable. They’ve never disagreed over who will feel the impact of these cuts. (...) -

On Wednesday, 28-year-old Timothy K. Chamness was killed at the Prairie Eagle South Underground Mine in Cutler, Illinois. (...) -
Fukushima : démantèlement incertain et désastre économique garanti
6 May 2012, by Robert ParisFukushima : démantèlement incertain et désastre économique garanti
